01. VILLAGE OF CANNING
Canning is a small village of around 850 people near the base of the North Mountain. First settled by the Acadians it was later inhabited by the New England Planters and the Dutch. Canning was first known as Apple Tree Landing, a well known children centre in the community still bears that name.

03. FIELDWOOD HERITAGE CENTRE
The Canning Heritage Centre is operated by the Fieldwood Heritage Society. They promote the history of this once very busy seaport through photo's artifacts and documents. They also have many holdings of Wilf Carter who was born and brought up close to this area.

03. CAPE SPLIT
Cape Split is a great hike to a spectacular view of one of Nova Scotia's most famous rock formations. This can be a long walk for the un-experienced hiker, but it is well worth the trip.

04. LOOK-OFF
The Canning look-off is located on the North Mountain and provides a spectacular view of the valley. From this perch visitors can see the waters and coast of the Minas Basin and the many farmer’s fields and apple orchids in the valley below.

05. BLOMIDON PROVINCIAL PARK
Rising majestically from the shores of the Minas Basin, Blomidon Provincial Park is renowned for its spectacular views. Blomidon's 759 ha (1,875 acres) include 180 m (600 ft.) high cliffs, a variety of habitats, striking natural features, abundant wildlife -- and the world's highest tides wash its shores. These natural attractions provide excellent opportunities for camping, hiking, beachcombing, photography or just appreciating nature.

06. KINGSPORT BEACH
Part of a community of summer cottagers and a handful of year-round residents, Kingsport Beach offers a wide beach with beach-combing enjoyment during low tides and the lazy lap of the seawater when the tide is in. It’s a relaxed and relaxing place to stroll or bask or take a boat ride.
